A River Runs Through It harnesses the gentle yet persistent power of the Fox River in St. Charles, Illinois, to create a series of cyanotypes that seemingly capture the river’s own breath. This body of work blurs the line between artist and environment, with the river itself acting as both tool and subject. The flowing water, steeped in history, infuses each cyanotype with a sense of place, creating images that are as much an expression of the river’s essence as they are of my own hand. These prints explore the themes of surrender and impermanence and invoke the ancient, magical relationship between humans and nature, where creation is a conversation rather than a command. A River Runs Through It offers a glimpse into the unseen and reminds us of the magic that flows through the world.
